Gibanica, culinary delicacy from Prekmurje

Prekmurska gibanica (pron. gheebanitsa, prekmurian layer cake) is a layered cake, originating in the region of Prekmurje, Slovenia. It contains poppy seeds, walnuts, apples, raisins, and cottage cheese fillings. Although native to Prekmurje, it has achieved the status of a national speciality of Slovenia. This is a typical Japanese summer dessert called kakigōri, made from shaved ice flavored with green tea syrup and topped with sugar beans and condensed milk.

Let's have sushi!

I love how colour-coordinated this card is. The sender's writing matches the main colour of the card, the stamp matches the text printed on the back side. It all looks very thought through and it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

Yakitori

Yakitori is one of the most popular and well-known Japanese food. It consits of various parts of the chicken grilled on bamboo skewers over charcoal. It is flavored during cooking either with a soy-based sauce or with salt alone.

This card always makes me warm inside. It's nice and yummy and I also know from it that typical beer appetizers in Japan (beside said yakitori) are boiled green beans.

Hershey's Kisses

HERSHEY'S KISSES chocolates were first introduced by the Hershey Chocolate Company on July 1, 1907, in what is now the town of Hershey, Pennsylvania. The plume, or flag, was added fourteen years later.

Pizza

When I was on a diet in summer 2009, I got a whole lot of my favourite cards: food cards. When you can't eat something, it's nice to at least look at it!

Yep, that's me again!

I haven't updated this blog for a year and now I have several hundreds o' postcards to upload. Those who are reading this blog, be warned for I shall probably spam the hell outta your read lists.

Nice envelope, and there are pretty cards in it!

This is a card from St. Petersburg. I've always said that out of all Russian cities St. Petersburg has the most awesome cards!

The lions of St. Petersburg.

This is a card from Peterhof, a small town near St. Petersburg (and under its jurisdiction). It's recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This is one of my favourite cards. The sender doesn't know where and when it was printed, but it looks like an illustration from one of those fairy tale books I was reading as a child:)

Tom yam and beaches - that's how heaven must be

My bff sent me these cards from Thailand in winter 2009. Food&beaches, my favourite themes!

Pollution was added by the Russian post. They must've been jealous of Thailand's white sand beaches.
There are even more beaches on the stamps:
